To Beard or Not to Beard!

THAT is quite often the question in my life.

I'm a hairy guy.

Always have been (well, since I was 13 or so),

Always will be.

Unless I laser my neck... which is probably the only place I would consider that type of hair removal.

So we come to the common questions;

Should I let my beard grow out?

Beardy!

Or should I keep it more shaved (or stubbly)?
Not so Beardy!
Stubbly
Tough question. Especially since I'm pretty happy either way!!

Other Beardiferous options:
2 week Beard

4 week Beard

Easy Ride Stache and scruff

5 week Beard

Runners Beard

Cowboy Beard!

The Hulihee

Rough Beard

Goatee

Weird Beards

Wizard beard! (not real)

Wolverine Beard!

Piratical Beard!
Ragnar Stache

If anybody feels like sharing their thoughts I'd appreciate it!
What do you think about facial hair in general?
Which types do you like?
What do you NOT like?

I know my wife does NOT like just a plain mustache!

I look sickly...

Bucket List and Movies...

I updated my Spring movie list by crossing out the ones I've now seen, but it isn't quite time for a full post. Maybe after I watch a few more of them.

My Bucket List is almost 2 years old now...

I have only crossed off a few things since writing that - MOSTLY because the majority of them are Travel related, and a good portion of them are also general "Get Better At..." goals that will basically never be 'checked off' until that bucket is good and kicked, and then if I'm better than I was when I started, that's good enough for me!

Movie List - Spring of 2012

I last did a list of Movies I wanted to see in June of 2010, and I haven't seen very many movies since then so I'm quite behind.

The main reason for this is to have a place to remember these! Maybe sometime in 2014 I'll look back and see how I did.

First off, from that previous list there are only 4 I didn't see. Not too bad.
Clash of the Titans
The Other Guys
Adjustment Bureau
Eagle of the Ninth

Amazingly none of those are on Netflix yet.

Since the last list these are the films I DID see: (*T* after if I saw it in the Theater)
Yeah we don't get out to the theater that much. Cheaper that way I guess!

And now the films I would still like to see (not in order of preference):
Finally - here are some upcoming movies I want to see (in order of release for the rest of the year):
WOW that's a big list!!
I'm surprised I saw as many of those movies as I did - but there are still a lot to see.

Leap Year!!

Amazing - it's the 29th of February!

Seriously though - why do we get an extra day in the middle of winter?!

Anyway not much to add here - still thinking about my previous post and what I want to focus on here... Happy Leap Day!

(Also, Savage Chickens is one of my favorites - you should visit his site and see all his awesome post-it chicken-ness)

Direction for the Future of the Blog

Yeah I'm really trying to figure that out still... And I'd love to hear some input if you have any.

I'm not going to get rid of this blog, but there are SO many different sites I'm using around the internet, and that's not including my Fitness Blog also on Blogger!

Examples:
Twitter
Books
Running
Body Measurement
My Art
Pinterest
Inspirational Pictures
Goals
More Goals
Even MORE Goals (Schemer is still in Beta so you can't see that unless you already have it!)

Those sites are just the ones I use off the top of my head!!

So what should I do here? I've already got a lot of subjects covered.

One that isn't covered is Japanese Music Videos... I could do just that!

Maybe I'll focus exclusively on Pirates!

Primal Challenge results

21 days have come and gone - we completed our first 21 days of pretty much 100% Primal!

Now that we finished that we have gone into a more 'normal' Primal lifestyle, keeping exceptions to less than 20% of total. It's working out and our kids are starting to complain less as well!

As for results - I lost 5 or 6 pounds - if you want to see what that did for my love handles, you can see my pasty skin over on my Fitness entry on pre and post challenge results post. Now I need to gain back that weight, with no fat!

Eat more fat, have less on my body - I like it!

If you have any questions let me know - I'm happy to answer them!

Gone Primal

As my beautiful wife documented in her blog we have decided that with this new year we would start The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation as outlined in the book of the same name... (If you buy the book through that link I supposedly get money... but nobody ever has so I don't expect to!)

If you've never checked out Mark's Daily Apple - you really should! (I don't get anything if you click on that link)

It is a valuable resource for anybody interested in health regardless what you believe on the whole Caveman/Primal idea. Some of the articles get a bit wordy but I don't think they are anywhere near as bad as Mercola for wordiness!

For an intro to what 'Primal' is, check it out here.

I've mentioned before how my biggest issues in my quest for physical perfection (ha ha) were the 3 S's:
Sleep, Sugar and Soda
This lifestyle change removes the 2 consumables (no sugar which pretty much cuts out the soda for me cuz I don't do diet!) and has some strong suggestions for improving sleep (Turn off electronics earlier and go to BED). That is really hard. I think the sleep is actually harder than avoiding sugar, as my night time ritual of staring at the computer screen is currently my wind down time and my "Me-time" with no kids running around peeking over my shoulder, etc.

So far (day 3 of the 21 day challenge, then after that you modify it to fit your personal needs) I feel great! I'm probably sleeping better already (although the first night I stayed up too late...) and it hasn't been THAT hard to avoid the candy and Mt. Dew (although MAN it is tempting at the grocery store checkout lines!) We got some decent sparkling water at Costco and I picked up some surprisingly delectable High Cocoa content Dark Chocolates so I think that helps!

After work today my fitness challenge is to do 2 rounds of as many pushups, squats, pullups and plank (for time) as I can. I'm pretty good at all of those so we'll see how I do after work!

Finally, I've started a Tumblr photo blog for ease of cool inspirational picture sharing (Fitness, Yoga, Personal progress in Fitness and Yoga, Pirates, Steampunk. You know, the usual!)
