An Update on My Art That Isn't Really a quality Update at All
I especially like the random capitalization of words!
So I have a big pile of doodles to scan - but it isn't anything really focused. I need some ideas... and drive.
Here's my gallery.
Sorry for the lack of posting - it's been a crazy month since I last posted. I'm not sure I'm going to continue the quotes. Or maybe just none for this month (and last!).

Friday Quotes - Steve Jobs
"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on."

Humans Are Amazing - Crazy Frog
When I was little I used to listen to Axel's Theme song all the time because my brother was learning it on the piano... We saw it at an 80's magic show and after that it was all downhill from there!
So right - Humans areAmazing downright disturbing!!
Who would do this to their kids?
Still - hilarious for the rest of us!

The Dirty Dash!!
I'm excited! On Saturday I'll be running with a team from work in the Dirty Dash!
Just tell me this doesn't look exciting!!
See - I told you!
Even more fun... we are doing it in CRAZY costume - short jean shorts, suspenders, and bow ties.
I'll probably make my hair a big mohawk or crazy spiky with some red super gel stuff we have...
Due to the sensitivity of my readers though - there may or may not be pictures in the next few days.
We'll see... Mwahahahaaa!

How Bad Do You Want It?
Maybe this should be posted on my sadly neglected Fitness Blog but I think it is applicable in so many ways in life.
I think I forget a lot that I need to WORK for it. I need to want it more than I want to BREATHE!
Here's a good video/speech (football related but still relevant!):

Pinterest is a lot of fun. (Check out my pins!)
There are all sorts of fun images out there on the web that can be 'pinned' to remember later, and it can really suck you in.
However, I would say WELL over 90% of pinterest users are female, so on pinterest itself there are TONS of crochet patterns and birthday party ideas etc etc, which is FINE, but you know - I want more MANLY posts!
So I've created a MANLY interests board. Let me know if you have any suggestions (and yes it's a bit tongue-in-cheek!)
Also I created this on the fun "Stay Calm" Generator site specifically for my board.

Freerunning Kids
WOW! These kids are amazing - and they've been training with Tempest Academy Freerunning (see earlier post) for LESS than a year! Amazing! I would LOVE to put my kids into something like this - these boys are going to have the whole world as their playground!
"Frank and Max have been training with Team Tempest for almost a year. Watch as the boys showcase their skills in their first ever gym video at Tempest Freerunning Academy!"

It seems like that's almost all they can do these days... Well if they are going to do it they should dig deep for those hidden gems that are almost forgotten these days...
Like:

I mean really - how can you beat Electra Woman and Dyna girl??
Well, yes, the answer IS in the second video.
Bigfoot and Wild Boy would definitely not be defeated by them... but it'd be a tough fight!!

PIRATES!!! (New movie yay!)
This looks very exciting indeed!
Pirate movie in the style of Chicken Run? I'll definitely see that ASAP!
The Pirates! Band of Misfits
Sadly... we have to wait until March of 2012. I guess I should finally drag me booty out to see the latest POTC in the meantime. I still can't believe I haven't seen that!

Wednesday's Awesome Japanese Music Video! FINAL edition!!!
Today for our final WAJMV entry, we get the rockers Breakerz and their song
LAST † PRAY
Crazy - and yes - I picked this because of the eyepatch and the totally FFVII-esque costumes!
So hopefully you will pray that this is the LAST of this reoccurring entry!
If you really want it back just let me know. I had fun with it for a while, and I found out stuff about the Japanese Music scene I never would have otherwise!
Now to think of something else to replace it!

Wednesday's Awesome Japanese Music Videos!
"Hey! Say! JUMP!"
Wait what? Oh that's their name?
Cool! Let's watch 'em sing "Over!"!!!
hsjoms by juniorsweet
It's over... Love is over!!
Whatever are we going to do?
HA! So funny.
You've gotta admit their choreographic skills are pretty impressive in all these Japanese groups.
My wife LOVES Fox's show "So You Think You Can Dance" - and for a competition show it's definitely one of the better ones on. A while back they did an opening dance that looked VERY much like the choreography Genki Sudo does for World Order! (only not as good) Overall those contestants are better dancers, but in that Japanese pop-style - it is hard to compete with the original!
Still, for the most part - Japanese everything is just over-the-top awesome - like the pop-trio Perfume
Laserbeam
My life is now complete. Wait... What happened to the white-suited leopard-skin-necked plastic faced man and WHAT did he have in that briefcase!?! AHHH my life is ruined again!!

Skull by ~warlordblade on deviantART
The Skull A Day blog is awesome. A few years ago they posted a really cool Stencil skull for spray painting - I decided to draw it. I only changed a few things on the stencil - it's just too cool! Makes me want to spray paint stuff!
Over on my Zero Day Project I have "Create at least one drawing/piece of art a month" as a goal... so here's the first for June!
Now to keep it up or speed up - because I actually started this quite some time ago!
Any ideas? Requests?

Wednesday's Awesome Japanese Music Video!
Today's videos are brought to you with help from an awesome co-worker who gave me some great ideas.
First off we have Gackt - who has been said to be the inspiration for many Final Fantasy Characters. I didn't think it was possible to get hair like that outside of video games!
And from "The Pink Ladies" comes what I hear is one of the MOST popular Karaoke songs!
Their dancing reminds me of the English Lessons including "I was robbed by two men!"
Three is most definitely enough!
Until next week!

Scottish/Highland Festival
Today we took our kids and went to the Highland Festival.
We even joined the Scottish Association! Clan McGowan! (MacGowan? still gotta find out)
Very cool band. Also very cool that Craig Ferguson played WITH them!
We were able to sit and enjoy them for a while. My wife now wants to get me a Kilt!

Hilarious Kids - Ahh the 90's
ME AT NINE, PERFORMING TO MADONNA IN SUMMER '91! from Robert Jeffrey on Vimeo.
From the dancer:
"I performed to MADONNA's "VOGUE" in the Summer of 1991 when my parents took me to Hampton Beach Casino in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. A business in the casino at the time gave tourists the chance to lip-synch to their favorite pop songs in front of a blue screen background, and I was lucky enough to partake that summer.
In honor of the twentieth anniversary of MADONNA's "TRUTH OR DARE" and in celebration of MADONNA's upcoming "W.E.", here is my nine year old self paying tribute to the woman who changed my life and continues to inspire me just as much today as twenty years ago."
Thank you Robert. You are (or maybe WERE, since this was 20 years ago!) an inspiration.

Amazing Free Running - Luci Steel Romberg
While watching the newest Tempest Free Running vid:
I was reminded that the stunt girl Luci Romberg is amazing and I'd seen her in action before.
I found this next video and my amazing wife said she had never seen it before.
I could have sworn that I had posted it on here already. So I double checked and NOPE! I hadn't.
So here is her Ninja Warrior stunt tape. Luci definitely has skills!
You can check out more at her website. Awesome!

Wednesday's Awesome Japanese Music Video!
Yeah - This is going to stick around for a while. I might miss some and I probably won't repost on a Saturday - But AWESOME or cool Japanese Music Videos will be seen on Wednesdays!
Some of them may be funny, but there are some WEIRD ones out there. (I wouldn't click that link btw - very strange and not appropriate for anyone's eyes - especially kids! Don't say I didn't warn you!)
So today's comes from U900! Crocheted Ukulele-playing animals! (already shown a while back on a ukulele post) Playing the BEATLES!
And for those of you who like fairly-androgynous Japanese Boy Bands (Hey - some people like 'em!) Here's KAT-TUN
Yikes.

Danny Wallace' "Friends Like These" Review
I wrote this review over at goodreads after reading this book.
Like I mentioned in the review - this book really made me think...
We disconnect from people all the time without even meaning to.
We move; We change jobs; We get a new haircut...
And suddenly we realize that we haven't talked to somebody in YEARS.
Why not?
The excuse we use a lot is "We just got busy with LIFE!"
It's not like we're really THAT busy!
Seriously.
My nights fly by and I feel like "I didn't have time to get it all done!" but what did I do all night? Usually it's checking out Facebook, reading blogs, watching a TV show, looking at Amazon. Stuff like that. Really it isn't hard to go out for a burger with a friend.
Amazingly, that's what I did tonight.
I invited a friend out for a burger - it was his birthday yesterday and his wife was out of town and my amazing wife was all for it - so we went and it was great to just hang out and eat a burger and talk about Martial Arts and Egyptology and Real Estate and Literature.
It was good and I really want more connections. So I'm going to do it. Added a new item to the bucket list:
"Stay Connected" and I DON'T mean Facebook, even though that can be a tool to do so.
Life is good.
I am happy.
Friends Like These: My Worldwide Quest to Find My Best Childhood Friends, Knock on Their Doors, and Ask Them to Come Out and Play by Danny Wallace
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
BRILLIANT!
Like the author - I definitely went through (and even 2 years later am still going through) issues of REALLY passing into adult-hood - or reaching/passing THIRTY years old. I could definitely identify with many parts of this book.
UNlike the author however, at 32 years old I have FOUR beautiful children, I have not written best-selling books that have been (or will be) turned into successful movies starring Jim Carrey (good movie actually, and now I've gotta read the book), nor do I have the means to travel off to various parts of the world just to say hi for a couple hours to friends long disconnected.
I do, however, work in IT. Funny, that.
Reading this book made me think about how I look at a lot of things in my life. How I see what's important and what isn't. The fact is, especially with all the tools available today (Facebook, Email, Cellphones/Texting, Skype, Blogs, etc) it really isn't that difficult to MAKE time to visit face-to-face with friends. And I think more of them would love that connection too.
Anyway - this book is wonderfully and entertainingly written - Definitely something I think anybody could enjoy.

Wednesday's Awesome Japanese Music Video
This should be a new feature here. Maybe it'll happen!
Videos like this make me want to live in Japan for a while.
Yes, I'm a bit of a Japanophile!
If it weren't so expensive to live there I'd definitely do it. (see #'s 4 and 12 on the bucket list!)
World Order's videos are great! The 'main' guy in this group is Genki Sudo, a retired Mixed Martial Artist - and I just love these videos!
Here they are in New York!
Makes me smile.

Looks Like We Are All Still Here...
And I think for now that's a good thing!
I had a lot of fun this weekend, both with the Relay Race that I was in and seeing all the fun and excitement as people waited for the Rapture to happen... (My sunburn HURTS today!)
Some of my favorite things I saw/read
Facebook and Twitter Updates:
Velocirapture! (From Threadless - not sure of true source atm sorry!)
That was awkward... (from someecards - hilarious site)
More Raptors (From Win!)
I'll be happy to Judge you (someecards again!)
Overall it was fun seeing the creativity of people in this situation. :)

(Last Ever) Song of the Day
(Maybe...)
Dang... Looks like I might not be able to finish everything on my bucket list... or ANYTHING!? Good luck everybody!
In my younger days while rocking out to this song with friends, we'd always yell
LEONARD BERNSTEIN!!
Very loudly when that part came on. Good song.
See you all in the afterlife! :)
UPDATE: So I guess it isn't the end quite yet. Some lucky people will be RAPTURED tomorrow, the rest of us have to wait another 5 or 6 months until the end. Hooray!

UPDATE: So I guess it isn't the end quite yet. Some lucky people will be RAPTURED tomorrow, the rest of us have to wait another 5 or 6 months until the end. Hooray!

Awkwardness
(Awkward Family Photos is hilarious)
A few weeks ago as I was driving home from work - I exited the freeway and into the left turn lane to head home. I looked to my right and, what do you know? Two good friends from High School who had married were in the next lane!I waved at them and they waved back, looked happy to see me (it's really been years!) then I started to unroll the passenger window to yell quick
In response to this experience, I added another line to my bucket list...
- Awkwardness is a choice - DON'T be awkward
If you choose not to let something make you feel awkward - it won't feel awkward! Laugh at it! Enjoy it! Life is amazing and we make it much too complicated and awkward for ourselves.
Granted, like everything else in life, you can't control how other people react, and more often then not people sure like to make things more awkward than they need to be.
I'm also not saying these friends did anything wrong either. It WAS a weird situation, in a very busy and fast moving intersection.
It just made me realize that too often in my life I've hemmed and hawed and made things awkward for myself! NO MORE!
Man... what an awkward post! :D

Friday Quotes - Elbert Hubbard Month
This is one of my favorite quotes ever. There are things in life that should be taken seriously; love, faith, family - but even those - if taken too seriously - can't be fully ENJOYED!
Enjoy your life people! It's a GREAT thing!
(and I'm even older tomorrow than I am today - hooray!)

Humans Are Amazing - Cello + Dancing Edition
I love the Cello. Yo-yo Ma is amazing.
Dancing is always impressive to me - I don't like watching it as much as my wife does, but I can appreciate the talent and dedication that goes into it. This guy is pretty amazing!
(Turn up the volume the sound isn't great)
I also think it's funny, his movements are very 'street', very NOT classical, but really, good dancing is good dancing - if he were in some Ballet tights it wouldn't look that out of place!
In other news, Saturday morning I was able to accomplish the early stages of a muscle-up. I did a few muscle-ups on park playground monkey bars that made it slightly more doable than a straight bar. Ultimately I WILL do it on a straight bar. So because of this my Bucket List has been updated.

Amazing Yoga
This video shows Darren Rhodes doing every pose in the Anusara Syllabus - pretty dang amazing! Shot over 2 days I guess... check it out:
I like to think I'm getting pretty good at Yoga myself - but NOT to this insane level.
Nor do I ever plan on being able to do some of these poses!

Just Shows to Go Ya!
It is not WHO you know...
"Palin was paid $262,500 for 15 to 20 days of work"
"Scott Walker Gives $81,500 Government Job To 26-Year-Old College Dropout"
There are plenty more examples, but these are some recent ones of note...
On a side note - I definitely need to improve my networking!

Seriously amazing!
Although the chubby-bird-people or whatever they are - those are slightly disturbing!
Next time I go to Vegas I really need to actually go see one of these Cirque de Soleil shows - they're all over down there now!

Pet Peeves for a Wednesday Afternoon
Normally I think it really isn't beneficial to be negative about things.
But sometimes it really helps you feel better to vent about things that bug you!
So that's what I'm going to do!
Wednesday Afternoon Pet Peeves - By Warlord Blade
I'd love to hear things that bug you - feel free to vent! Although really, please keep it civil, no racist, political, religious or any other kind of slur or complaining please! Also feel free to comment with things you like! I'm always looking for more of that!
But sometimes it really helps you feel better to vent about things that bug you!
So that's what I'm going to do!
Wednesday Afternoon Pet Peeves - By Warlord Blade
- Excessive use of sound bytes or non-musical, non-rhythmic Political speeches. Sound bytes can add to a song. Too much and it's like those old webpages with thousands of blinking gifs. Spoken poetry doesn't have to rhyme, can have music behind it, and be fine - that's not what I'm talking about.
- Crowd-singing. You know how bands will stop singing at a well-known part of a chorus and hold the mic for the crowd to sing along? That's totally fine if you are AT A CONCERT. Please please please don't do it in an album!
- Blinkers. Seriously, nothing new here sure, but I really don't understand how hard it is to use your blinker when changing lanes, and even WORSE when you are slowing down to turn into a parking lot on a busy road without turn lanes. Heck even if there ARE turn lanes use the blinker!
- Public Restrooms. Now I actually don't really have a problem with public restrooms. I have some OCD tendencies (I think everybody does in some way or another) - but seriously - what is WRONG with people! Personally if I know I have to use it, and even if I won't ever use it again, I try not to make a mess, and if something goes wrong, try to fix it. People are gross sometimes.
- Don Kenn's Monster Drawings on Post-It notes
- This Flogging Molly song Yarr! Makes me want to stomp around!
- Edible Pens! Great idea!
- Bar-Barians - I can't do a LOT of what they can do, but I'm working for it!
I'd love to hear things that bug you - feel free to vent! Although really, please keep it civil, no racist, political, religious or any other kind of slur or complaining please! Also feel free to comment with things you like! I'm always looking for more of that!

Buster Keaton
A couple of days ago I watched Steamboat Bill Jr., an amazing movie from one of my favorite actors (and directors) of ALL time. Buster Keaton.
However my love for the films and stunts of Buster Keaton is something not easily shared because I laugh my head off during Buster Keaton films. Every. Single. One. Love 'em.
My wife and my mom think it's cute and funny, but most everybody else thinks I'm a bit odd.
Which I am.
Still - since I often share parkour-related stuff on this blog - a scene from Steamboat Bill Jr. reminded me of it, so I wanted to share.
The scene where he jumps down from the top, then later goes back up to the top of the titular Steamboat can be found here:
Amazing! That was in 1928!!
A fun Montage:
And finally - one I hadn't seen in a LONG time, from the Battling Butler (which I'm not sure I've actually seen all of - gotta get on that!)
Thanks for indulging me!

Friday Quotes - John Lennon Month
“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

Taimane's Toccata and more
Kind of a strange video - but an AMAZING rendition of Bach's Toccata on a UKULELE!
SO Awesome!
I had a really cheap ukulele for a while but it was hard to keep it on the right tune so I didn't really learn anything. I WILL. Just not Bach! :)
This one is also great:
Taimane's Website has more interesting stuff!

Friday Quotes - John Lennon Month
“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

20 Year Old Advice from Ray Bradbury
In 1991 Ray Bradbury sent this to a fan... GREAT advice:
I think we definitely worry about what others think WAY too often. Sure the fact that I like Pirates and Fantasy books and Pullups and Exercising a lot is WEIRD to some/many people. But you know what? The obsession some people have with making recumbent bicycles or collecting clocks or religiously following the NFL season (and off season) don't make much sense to me either! We are all different and we should embrace that!
Be your own self!
Love what YOU love!
Thanks Ray!

Grooooovy Song of the Day
This song is fairly new, but the Black Keys have been around since 2001 but I haven't heard of them until this song and I like a lot of their stuff.
Blues-Rockin' Grooove.
The Grammys and Oscars are often overrated but sometimes they do expose you to things you may not have heard of before!
Enjoy!

X-Men Origins Trailer
I have always liked X-Men. Cyclops was my favorite when I was younger, even though I'm more of a hairy Wolverine than a Cyclops... Anyway the trailer for the new X-Men Origins looks great!
There's also another Wolverine in the works and I've gotta say, Hugh Jackman is an awesome Wolverine.

Derezzed
Just before Christmas I saw Tron Legacy - I enjoyed it a lot. I don't think the 3D added much to the film, but it didn't really take away. I DO think they could have done a lot more than they did - this is a cool video that expands a little bit on some of the stuff that COULD have been in the movie but wasn't.
I definitely enjoyed the Visuals, the Soundtrack, and the idea of the movie. It was fun and good movie, but wasn't AMAZING in execution, you know?
Still, I liked it enough that I would like to see it again soon.

Happy New Year! 2011
Happy New Year everybody!
I really can't believe it's 2011!
Like my brother said - my only resolution this year is 1080p!
And that's WAY too geeky.
And since I got nothin' else, here's Jib Jab's too political sendoff to 2010:
Best part is the dancing puppets at the end!
Have a great year everybody!
