Pet Peeves for a Wednesday Afternoon

Normally I think it really isn't beneficial to be negative about things.

But sometimes it really helps you feel better to vent about things that bug you!

So that's what I'm going to do!

Wednesday Afternoon Pet Peeves - By Warlord Blade
  1. Excessive use of sound bytes or non-musical, non-rhythmic Political speeches. Sound bytes can add to a song. Too much and it's like those old webpages with thousands of blinking gifs. Spoken poetry doesn't have to rhyme, can have music behind it, and be fine - that's not what I'm talking about.
  2. Crowd-singing. You know how bands will stop singing at a well-known part of a chorus and hold the mic for the crowd to sing along? That's totally fine if you are AT A CONCERT. Please please please don't do it in an album!
  3. Blinkers. Seriously, nothing new here sure, but I really don't understand how hard it is to use your blinker when changing lanes, and even WORSE when you are slowing down to turn into a parking lot on a busy road without turn lanes. Heck even if there ARE turn lanes use the blinker!
  4. Public Restrooms. Now I actually don't really have a problem with public restrooms. I have some OCD tendencies (I think everybody does in some way or another) - but seriously - what is WRONG with people! Personally if I know I have to use it, and even if I won't ever use it again, I try not to make a mess, and if something goes wrong, try to fix it. People are gross sometimes.
Now because we don't want to be fully negative - here are some things I DO like! And I may have shared these before - who knows. Doesn't change the fact that I like 'em!
Also - I ran today for the first time in a little while, yikes I'm out of running shape! I'm trying a daily digest type thing over at my fitness blog so feel free to check that silliness out!

I'd love to hear things that bug you - feel free to vent! Although really, please keep it civil, no racist, political, religious or any other kind of slur or complaining please! Also feel free to comment with things you like! I'm always looking for more of that!

    Buster Keaton

A couple of days ago I watched Steamboat Bill Jr., an amazing movie from one of my favorite actors (and directors) of ALL time. Buster Keaton.

However my love for the films and stunts of Buster Keaton is something not easily shared because I laugh my head off during Buster Keaton films. Every. Single. One. Love 'em.

My wife and my mom think it's cute and funny, but most everybody else thinks I'm a bit odd.

    Which I am.

Still - since I often share parkour-related stuff on this blog - a scene from Steamboat Bill Jr. reminded me of it, so I wanted to share.
The scene where he jumps down from the top, then later goes back up to the top of the titular Steamboat can be found here:

    Amazing! That was in 1928!!

    A fun Montage:

And finally - one I hadn't seen in a LONG time, from the Battling Butler (which I'm not sure I've actually seen all of - gotta get on that!)

    Thanks for indulging me!

Friday Quotes - John Lennon Month

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.”

Next month is my birth month... So hopefully I can find something GOOD! :)

    Taimane's Toccata and more

Kind of a strange video - but an AMAZING rendition of Bach's Toccata on a UKULELE!

    SO Awesome!

I had a really cheap ukulele for a while but it was hard to keep it on the right tune so I didn't really learn anything. I WILL. Just not Bach! :)

    This one is also great:

Taimane's Website has more interesting stuff!

    St. Augustine Pirate Museum

Someday I'll definitely have to go see the new museum in St. Augustine. I've never actually been to Florida so I'm looking forward to it!

    I love his enthusiasm!

Friday Quotes - John Lennon Month

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

20 Year Old Advice from Ray Bradbury

In 1991 Ray Bradbury sent this to a fan... GREAT advice:

I think we definitely worry about what others think WAY too often. Sure the fact that I like Pirates and Fantasy books and Pullups and Exercising a lot is WEIRD to some/many people. But you know what? The obsession some people have with making recumbent bicycles or collecting clocks or religiously following the NFL season (and off season) don't make much sense to me either! We are all different and we should embrace that!

    Be your own self!

    Love what YOU love!

    Thanks Ray!

    Grooooovy Song of the Day

This song is fairly new, but the Black Keys have been around since 2001 but I haven't heard of them until this song and I like a lot of their stuff.

    Blues-Rockin' Grooove.

The Grammys and Oscars are often overrated but sometimes they do expose you to things you may not have heard of before!

    Enjoy!
